Overview

Problem. Dane Westby has been doing home remodeling for 30+ years. He built his whole reputation through word-of-mouth, but didn't have a website. Lots of people would ask him for one and he had nothing to send them to.

Solution. A site that explains his work, shows his portfolio, and makes it easy to get in touch. No CMS, no monthly bill, nothing to maintain. Easy for him to share with new leads.

Audience. Homeowners thinking about a remodel, and the steady stream of referrals coming in from past clients and Angie's Leads.

My role. Solo. From scoping with the client, to design, build, and deploy.

Process

Understanding the business first

Spent some time talking with the client to really understand his business to learn what jobs he takes, what he turns down, who his customers are. The site design naturally followed from those conversations.

Kept the stack simple

Plain HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with Bootstrap for the grid. No framework, no build pipeline, no backend. Loads instantly, costs almost nothing to host, and nothing breaks because nothing's running.

Designed for conversion

Hero photography that looks like the work, a portfolio gallery, a process explainer, and a contact form. Built to do one thing well: turn a 'do you have a website?' into a booked consultation!

Outcome

Live and in use! The client hands out the URL whenever someone asks and the site does the talking from there. Client has been extremely pleased with the end result.
